    Switch to Material Design

In the future, d.ecs task will use the design language Material Design. Within the scope of the changeover, various interfaces have been revised. Some of the implemented changes are described below:

The toolbar above the task overview has been redesigned so that it looks much cleaner now:

The three-dot menu has been replaced by a gear icon. However, the familiar functions are still included in the menu:

In the detail view, the tabs are now displayed above the view. In addition, the general and extended task properties, as well as the task history will be displayed in their own sections in the future. These sections can be expanded and collapsed separately:

In the toolbar of the detail view, the icons have been revised. The icons for taking over and giving back group tasks or tasks with multiple recipients were changed: The icons and were replaced with the icons and .

The associated function remains the same, but the icons now better indicate the corresponding action.

    Integration of the theming app

With the next release, d.ecs task supports the use of themes of the theming app. This means that in addition to the theme "Default light", other themes of the theming app can be used in d.ecs task in the future.

    Error summary in process modeling

With the next release of d.velop process studio, we will additionally offer an automatic validation of the process model with an error summary within the new configuration area.

When you open, save, or deploy a process, the current process definition will automatically be validated. If misconfigurations are detected during validation, you will see a message within the process model.

When you click on the notification, an error summary opens, listing all existing misconfigurations and describing what the problem is.

If during the deployment of a process it is detected that there are incorrect configurations, the deployment of the process is aborted and the error overview is opened directly. The process model cannot be deployed as long as there are errors.

If you click on an entry in the error summary, the incorrect process step is automatically highlighted in the process model and displayed in the configuration area. In the configuration area you can correct the incorrect configuration. Once you have fixed the incorrect configuration, you can revalidate the process model in the error summary. To validate, save the model or click on  .

When you have corrected all errors and run the validation again, the notification indicating errors in the model will disappear. You can now deploy the current process draft.

Calling up process modeling via the widget

In the future, you will only be able to access process modeling via the Process studio widget.

This software update contains the following changes:

    • New functions
    • Stability improvements and bug fixes

Configuring batch properties incl. placeholders in the import profile

If you want to align the property assignment to d.velop inbound e-mail, you can now also configure the batch properties including placeholders - in addition to the document properties in the import profile. The batch properties can be configured by the administration.

Assigning a batch directly to a group

You can now automatically assign batches to specific groups or users directly after creation, e.g. by service users. Your administration must enable this feature for specific import profiles in the configuration.

Static datasets from DMS to Inbound

If you have selected synchronization with document management as the catalog, static datasets are now taken into account in the document management.

    Remember favorite scanners

To save your users some clicks during a scan, the app now remembers the last selected scanner. This allows users to start scanning operations with just one click.

    Theming app

The themes that users have selected individually for themselves are now also used for the interfaces of the Inbound app.

    Change of the barcode engine

A new engine for the recognition of barcode values is now available. This engine provides an improved and faster detection rate.

As of 04/01/2023, we will remove the previous barcode engine and the new barcode engine assumes all functions.

    Stability improvements and bug fixes

The release includes some stability improvements and bug fixes.

  • New configuration area in process modeling (cloud)

    CategoryTasks and processes
    Published

    March 2023

Since the last release of d.velop process studio at the beginning of March, the new configuration area is automatically used for configuring newly created processes.

The new configuration area allows you to create processes even more easily and intuitively. In the process model, depending on which item you have selected, the configuration of the respective item is displayed. For already existing processes, the existing configuration area is still displayed.

Learn more about the features of the new configuration area below:

    Creating process variables

You can now create, edit, and remove process variables at the process level. In the creation and editing dialog the possible types and further configuration options are offered.

    01_Proesssvariable_anlegen_en.mp460%

Using process variables in the process

You will find created process variables in the process e.g. in user steps and you can select the process variables there directly. You can also use the process variables in input fields, such as the task description, in the continuous text. The variable selection is automatically opened in the continuous text when you enter the left curly bracket ({). You can select the respective variable directly from the selection list.

    02_Prozessvariablen_verwenden_en.mp460%

    Creating and using services

You can define a service at the process level and then use it in the process at the necessary places. After a service has been created at the process level, you can add input parameters and output parameters. When you select a service in the process, the input parameters defined as mandatory are automatically added in the input mapping. You can assign values directly to the input parameters. You can manually add optional input parameters and the necessary output parameters.

    03_Services_anlegen_und_verwenden_en.mp460%

    Using forms in user steps

In user steps, you can select an existing d.velop forms form in the Form area. If necessary, you can also create a new form for this process directly in the form selector. The form is created in the background and can be designed later. If a d.velop forms form is configured in a user step, the information about the existing process variables and the document (if available) will be given directly to this form when calling the form via a task. The form can load the process data and document data automatically when the form is opened.

    04_Formular_auswählen_und_erstellen_en.mp460%

Configuring possible actions in the user tasks

The Multiple selection function in task management allows you to control whether, for example, a task may also be forwarded as part of a multiple selection without having to call up the details of this task. You can now also perform this configuration directly on the user step. If it is not possible to complete the task in the task details and in the task list, it is mandatory to configure a form that must then be used to complete the task.

    05_Aufgabenaktionen_en.mp460%

    Configuring conditions

When using conditional branching, you can now directly access the variable selection with the left curly bracket ({) and use the variables in the conditions.

  • Conversion to Material Design in the Usermanagement app
    admin

A new user interface is available in the cloud for managing users and groups. With the new, more intuitive user interface, it is now even easier to create and manage new users and groups.

You can use the sidebar for assigning groups when creating new users.

With the user overview, you can invite users to the cloud directly via e-mail or delete users.

In the group overview, icons indicate which groups are involved:

    • simple local groups from the Usermanagement app
    • global groups in which users and groups of different providers can be combined
    • provisioned groups from other systems

You can upload or download a backup of users using the arrows.

  • Redirect for downloads in d.velop documents

The behavior for downloads will change in the future: When downloading documents, a redirect to the dmsdocs app will take place. Client applications must be able to follow the redirect accordingly. The change only affects d.velop documents in the cloud (for now).

In the following, you will learn more details and what you may have to do for the change.

    What will change technically?

When downloading documents via dms app, a redirect to the dmsdocs app will take place in the future. The actual download will take place via the dmsdocs app. The HTTP request to the dms app for the download will be answered with the HTTPS status code 302 Found. A relative URL to the dmsdocs app is specified in the Location HTTP response header.

The change only affects d.velop documents in the cloud (for now). Hybrid or on-premises systems are not affected. Nonetheless we reserve the right to make a change in hybrid or on-premises systems as well. You will receive a separate announcement in this case, though.

When will the change take place?

An exact date has not been set yet. We are currently expecting the change to take place in the second half of the year.

What do I have to do?

Depending on how you use or technically manage d.velop documents in the cloud, you need to take action for the change:

    • Users: If you only work with the d.velop documents user interface in the browser, there is nothing else you need to do.
    • App builders: If your apps download the documents via dms app through the backend (app-to-app communication), you need to take action. Make sure that your apps can work with the redirect.
    • Administration: If you manage scripts that download documents via dms app, you need to take action. Make sure the scripts can work with the redirect.

Will there be a final announcement?

We will make a final announcement 4 weeks prior to the release of the change. If you need to take action, we still recommend that you make the necessary adjustments now.

  • Changes in all public d.velop repositories on GitHub

According to the Software Freedom Conservancy's 2020 proposal, d.velop AG added a "main" branch in all public d.velop repositories and set it as the default branch. This branch will replace the "master" branch. The "master" branch will remain available for a transition period until it will be permanently deleted on 01/09/2023.
